Danielle & Roy
A Bohemian Love Diary
They may say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but the perfect wedding is worth a million memories. The first time we met with Danielle and Roy, they came to us with a selection of images they wanted their special day to mirror. Following a passionate discussion, our objective was simple; the Matisse Events team was to organize the bride and groom a stripped down bohemian wedding in honor of their love.
Initially, the ceremony was going to take place in a rustic tavern, but as we scouted for locations, the couple fell for a plain in Baskinta known as the Plateau of Bakish. The eco-village, which was in construction at the time, extends over a wide plot of 200 000m2, so we worked hard to transform part of the terrain into a venue able to host Danielle and Roy’s guests.
During the three months leading up to the nuptials, we collaborated with an expert florist to impeccably dry a massive quantity of flowers. We then used these beautiful blossoms as the wedding’s signature. Their vintage hues lit up table runners, escort cards, a suspended installation, and even the bride and bridesmaids bouquets. The couple said their “I dos” in a picturesque wheat field accompanied by a symphony of lavenders, sunflowers, and dried bougainvillea. In true laidback fashion, they cut their wedding cake right after the ceremony because they wanted to free their guests from pre-established customs.
The dinner menu also reflected the flower child spirit as everyone feasted on a selection of organic dishes beaming with flavor. As the celebration went on through the night, we installed hundreds of flambeaux, candles, and fire pits to keep our guests warm while they danced the stars away. When it was all said and done, we transformed Danielle and Roy’s collection of photos into an endless stream of memories to accompany them into the next phase of their life.
